Te Awa Single Estate vineyards and winery are situated in the widely regarded Gimblett Gravels of Hawke's Bay, bound by the Kaweka Ranges to the west and the spine of Te Mata Peak to the east. No better place for us to start a combined showcase of the natural elements, winemaking and lifestyle than the place that has it all. From dawn to dusk, the following content was captured for the client across one day.
Time-lapse
'Night to day' sunrise time-lapse was undertaken from the hillside across from the estate. Below you can see the stages of light as it transpires and stills can be derived from the process as stand-alone pieces; each having the potential to portray a different mood. The time-lapse above has been put together as shot, however it has wide range and is able to be manipulated in post to the desired brand feel. The purposefully shot composure means there is plenty of negative space available to incorporate branded graphics or copy.
Panoramic Photography
The place is known foremost for its wines and it is acknowledged that the weather pattern's interplay with the landscape has as much bearing on the final product as the unique soils. Aerial panoramic photography demonstrates this relationship, as clouds will often skirt around Te Awa at the heart of the Gimblett Gravels, where it's centre stage to some of the most dramatic sunsets NZ can offer.
Aerials
A selection of aerial stills were captured to best represent Te Awa Estate as it is amongst its surroundings. There were a few challenging variables at the time, including the construction site at the back of the winery, the space designated for expansion and the obvious gaps in the vines, however shooting at golden hour helps these become less detracting of course.
Stephen tindall - chef
Chefs can be a shirty lot at the best of times, but even shooting during a busy lunchtime service was no sweat for Stephen Tindall. In fact, unlike some other chefs, Stephen is actually quite personable, (if not a bit shy) and welcomed us and our cameras in to his kitchen to partake in a little dance between the hotplate and the pass. His food is, needless to say, outstanding. However, rather than the wine playing second fiddle to the fare, his seasonal menu takes every opportunity in matching the food to the wine abundantly on hand.
White Wine Lifestyle
Wine and food are age old constituents of a good time. They're what bring people together under a common cause for celebration. Luckily they're also very attractive incentives when trying to entice a group of people to take part in a lifestyle shoot.
red wine lifestyle
Our mid afternoon shoot of food and wine together was a pleasure to sample through the lens and palate. The talent in this lifestyle shoot were quick to lose any inhibitions and relax in to their surroundings and what was on offer. This really enabled us to capture genuine moments where the product could be showcased as part of something completely natural.
people & place
Wine + food, people + place. Every story has vital ingredients.
